Birth-youth
Martin Luther (born as Luder called himself later Luther) was born on 10 November 1483 in the German town of Eisleben. His father was at the beginning a poor farmer. He moved a few months after the birth of Luther, in 1483 to Manfeld. He worked there in the beginning as a poor miner. But he worked hard and did it so good that he could work up. And he became one of the citizen representatives in the Council of Manfeld. This means that the father of Luther had to tell the opinions and needs of the citizens to their leaders (Council of Manfeld). The family became one of the most important families of the city Manfeld. This gave the opportunity for the young Luther to study on the University of Erfurt. However, Luther had hardly enough time for his study of laws…. The mother of luther, Margarette Luder. Took care of a lot of children and gave Luther a strict upbringing. The first school where he went to (in Manfeld) was a Latin school and was also very strict. They used barbarian ways to keep the silence in the lessons. For example the teachers hit the children if they weren`t silent! This made him a very secretive but intelligent student.
